CSI Case File 33 'Inspire'

Another super challenge over at CSI today :0)

This colour palette (or at least the brick red) was so far removed from my comfort zone that I very nearly didn't do this one!

Glad I did, as I very rarely scrap our random days out, so it was good to do something other than the kids ;0) This photo was taken at the Hampton court Flower Show last month. DH and I went up for the day to get inspiration for our garden and had a really fun day with live music, good food and the most wonderful flowers and plants you ever did see!! One of the highlights was catching a boat to cross the Thames and seeing the palace as the Tudors would have done all those years ago.

Evidence: colour palette, document a landmark place you have visited, triangles, metal, something shiny, wet medium, something sand like, bricks, clouds and shadows.

tucked behind the photo is brick paper from the Co-Ordinates - I have journaled on this (like the idea of graffiti on a wall) I misted with 3 different mists and a 'mask' that I cut on the Silhouette and smudged embossing paste with red mica dropped onto it. The triangle is an old one I found..getting good at using up old stash ;0)

title cut on Silhouette and then I used a ProMarker to create a shadow - the pen did bleed into the word but I don't mind that. Stars are Studio Calico (yes I relented and bought them!)

Misted through a chevron mask and pushed some gilding flakes into the embossing paste whilst it was wet.
Thanks for popping in,

Ali x

  1. Awww...what I'd give to be able to pop over/up/down to Hampton Court...went when we were in England 2 years ago. I LOVE this - the flag & that bg work & the little triangle is so perfect..I really like how your work appears simple & uncluttered..but there's sooo much going on when you look closer. Really, really, like that!!!!

  2. This is just such an amazingly awesome and yes, inspiring layout. I am impressed by how many details there are to look at but there is still a lot of white space as well

  5. You lucky duck!! I NEVER seem to be able to catch the Hampton Court Flower Show, am always either too early or too late in London! But we do go there every single time we're in London, it's one of my fave places all categories. So glad you decided to play after all, this one's really smashing Ali! love the little accents of red and that sweet banner. xoxo
