CSI #26 'The Jewels'

Once again I am going to tell you how much I love the challenge at CSI this week......I know I bang on about this place every week, but seriously, you have to go and see what the DT come up with! It truly is, in my opinion, the most inspirational place as the styles are so diverse :0)

Anyhow, this week is the last of the royal challenges and once again Debbi has created the most beautiful colour palette.

I have used a photo of my DD's who are very much my jewels in this crown of life :0)

Lots of playing around with masks this week! A TH crown mask misted with black, the grid using white gloss embossing paste and the circle (my take on scallops and icing) using pearl paste. Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist in Firefly and the white mist I had made but has gone really thick but I like the look!

Felt flower is an old Heidi Swapp one, the letters are super old stickers, the crown accent from TH, washi tape and a stamp from Prima and a wordy one from Fiskars

You can just about see that I stencilled an A and an E (it shows up more in real life) The journaling tag is a PLS Chalkboard tag and pulls out to reveal my thoughts
I had lots of fun with this layout - although I did get bored waiting for stuff to dry!!

Here is the challenge if you would like to give it a go:

CKC Kit Scraps = Cards!

Hello,

thought I would share a handful of cards that I made with the last few bits of paper I had in my kit. I have to be honest and say that I brought in some additional bits :0)

The additional bits are: the original Cosmic Shimmer Chalkboard Mist I was going to have in my kit, the Hero Arts stamp, the twine and the negative of the star I used on another card!

The additional bits here are: Glitz Design stickers, the twine and a button.

A different washi tape, the Fiskars stamp and the Copsmic Shimmer Spray...again! Do you get the feeling it was a  'what is sitting on my desk?' kind of a card!

A piece of unadulterated chipboard, the star and some Glitz rub ons. The frame was cut using a Nellie Snellen die.
Thanks for popping in.....nearly at the end now :0(

CKC 'Forever'

Hello,

another layout to share......drumroll please......I have NOT used a white background!!! YAY!!

As much as I love white I did go through a bit of a kraft love a while ago - actually I still love it but my hand always goes to the black or white pile!! Anyhow, I was just about to clear my desk and throw all the bits away when I looked at them again and thought.......use them!

I was watching C & C and they had a Studio Calico kit on - I was just about to press the buy button on my laptop when I remembered....I can forge! More of that in a minute:0)

I have been in the loft retrieving old frames to paint for our lounge that has just been revamped (it's looking great!) and one of the old photos I removed was this one. It was one of my faves of DD#2 when she was about 2, mainly because it summed her up at the time. Always a little bit grubby and always doing random things, like sitting in her toy box with a handbag, a doll by her side and chewing a brick :0) She is still random, always has a handbag and doll has been substituted for nieces, but she is no longer boss-eyed, LOL!!!

OK, enough rambling and on to my layout:

the photo makes it look a lot brighter than it really is, but you get the idea :0) I have used the Picket Fence Distress Stain on TH Kraft resist paper.

forever was cut on the Silhouette

twine wrapped round a paper clip and tied in a bow

the left overs of some die cutting and my Studio Calico forged journal card.......!!!
Thanks so much for popping in,

Frosted Designs Sketch #44 'Sprout a Little Smile'

Hello,

time for the last FD sketch in June (where did that month go?) and it's a cracker!!

I am down to the last few pieces of my CKC kit now and this is my YELLOW page. Lovely photos of my Dad and DGD doing some planting in the Spring.....as well as Basil giving a helping paw!!

Paper is from Crate Paper 'Neighbourhood' , the stamps are from Pink Paislee. My forged MME bird and inked Prima canvas letters.

My journalling is tucked behind the photo

The green splodges are Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam dropped and blown with a straw :0)

Here is the lovely sketch from Karin - unusual huh? Love that it could be a 2 pager, A4 landcape, whatever you fancy!

Thanks for popping in,

CSI #25 'Be Mine'

Hello

I can not believe CSI are at challenge #25!! Where has the time gone?? Loved this week's challenge as it is so different to the other June challenges. Cool blue, grey and green......lovely :0)

I very rarely scrap DH so with the testimony prompt being about a letter to the past and the colour palette being a perfect masculine layout, I pulled out a photo of him at 18. Now before you look and think I married a transgender person, you have to remember that this was the early 80's when boys looked like girls and his biggest influences were David Sylvian and David Bowie .....

LOL you will see what I mean now........

The blue looks more turquoise than it does in real life - you will have to take my word for the fact that it is the right shade!!

Wood effect paper from MME. The heart stamps are TPC Studio and the title has been cut on the Silhouette

I Versamarked through a mask and brushed Gold Perfect Pearls over it. The stamp is Pink Paislee, ink is Peeled Paint and the splatters are Shabby Shutters mixed with water and flicked :0)

one of the journaling prompts is to hide it behind a door (or gate in this case) I fastened it closed with a random little gold thing! The heart is a stamp from one of those 12 x 12 sets from Prima...years old and recovered from DD#1 who never crafts anymore!!

and just to prove it opens!!
One of the other fun things that we were encouraged to do in this challenge was to lift one of the DT's pages. This was so tricky as I really do have at least 5 main designers whose work I adore, but I chose Helena Virpi's case #16

16 - When You Say You Love Me

Beautiful huh???

Thanks so much for popping in today,

CKC Challenge #2 'Paint'

Hello,

challenge number 2 is right up my street - get those paints out! Rather than do what I always do ......mist, splodge, splat...I thought I would use the brayer that has been sitting in it's box for a while. I am using a little creative leeway and although there is paint on my layout it is primarily inks.....is this cheating????

The photo is of me and my girls on Mothers Day and is one of those pictures that has captured the mood of the moment :0)

So, I brayered the rainbow(ish) and then flicked water to give it a more weathered look. The paper really buckled and creased so I cut it down and stitched it to another piece of white cardstock. I have used some of my alpha sheet as one of the layers (thanks Chantal for that genius idea!)  Black paint has then been flicked and blobbed - technical, I know!!

The clouds and 'sun'  were cut on the Cricut. The tag is from a teeny Basic Grey pad

The 'raindrops' are from Papermania. finally I doodled a few little hearts just to finish it off :0)
Thanks for popping in,

CSI #24 'Boutique Beautiful'

Hello,

another fabulous challenge at CSI this week.......cool colours and fantastic co-ordinates...how could I resist?

I found a photo of my Nana and Grandad taken in the 50's or 60's (the dinner dancing decades!) and although the quality leaves a lot to be desired I love it!! I was always playing with my Nana's copious amount of jewellery, sitting for hours in front of her big dressing table, pretending to be a lady.... happy days :0)

I painted 2 shades of grey Liquid Pearls onto the background and splatted gently with black ink.

Glitz grey letters and word cut on Silhouette. I printed the co-ordinates onto paper, vellum and acetate and then cut them into semi circles.

The journaling is folded and tucked into the stapled tag.

I thought I would try a different angle so that you could see the pearl paint....hmmm, maybe not!
e

Shame you can't really see the acetate but it does look really pretty in real life :0)
Thanks so much for popping in, hop on over to CSI and have a play :0)

CKC 'Midnight Feast'

Hello,

continuing with my rainbow theme, today's share is INDIGO aka dark blue! I honestly did have a look on Pinterest for indigo and this is what I found:

INDIGO INDIGO     ok, ok it is the one that suited me best!!!

Loved the blue against the white, so no prizes for guessing what my background colour is!!!! The photo is of DH's birthday curry banquet in October - it was warm enough for us to sit outside in the evening (unheard of!)

I have just bought a handful of Distress Stains to see what they are like and I love them! This one is Chipped Sapphire. The stars are 3 little stamps that were thrown into a box!

The tiny bit of yellow stamping is Scattered Straw and a stamp from my MME set

I have journalled onto the yellow journal spot (tucked behind the photo) the white card was embossed with a Sizzix folder. Stickers are OA. Punch is MS (who else?) The circle punched card (at the top) was on my desk waiting to go in the bin from another project but I though it represented the moon quite nicely!
Thanks so much for popping in today, lovely to see you

CKC 'Fizzing With Life'

Hello,

today is my ORANGE layout using my CKC kit. Thought this was going to be a problem but I really like it :0) The photos are DGD at the park a couple of weekends ago when we had some sunshine!! What a difference the sun makes to life......think I need to move countries!

These sweet little flags were a freebie download from Scrap365 The pebble is from Pink Paislee Hometown summer. The border stamp is Anna Griffin

The whole layout and title came about after a found this card from Pink Paislee

'life' was cut from the Silhouette
Thanks so much for popping in,

CKC Challenge #1 'Life Cycle'

Hello,

so it's my first challenge as the CKC GD for June and I am loving it!!! The challenge is travel inspired and I was going to do something holiday themed but as I was rooting through the photos I came across this one of DD#1 on her new birthday bike!! It made me laugh that we all behaved the way we did when they were little....going outside to watch her ride it and take photos (not the most flattering ones admittedly!) :0) The whole point of her having a bike is that it takes the same time for her to bike to our house on the cycle paths by the river as it does to drive round on the roads, plus she is getting fit into the bargain and DGD loves being out in the fresh air in her bike seat!!

The cogs are cut from the TH die. The seam binding has been stamped with a MME stamp and the letters are from EP 'For the Record' The little boy was cut from some OA dp 'Sidewalks' I think!

The 'tyre tracks' were made with paint on bubble wrap

Thanks so much for popping in,

CSI #23 'F is for ...'

Hello,

I am sharing my layout for the latest challenge over at CSI ....a simply gorgeous Case Study this week :0)

My take is of DGD on a very cold day at Aldeburgh. Mum and I thought it would be nice to stroll on the seafront and get some fresh air.....BIG mistake!! We hurried along, struggling against the wind whilst DGD strolled along picking wild flowers and finding feathers (every one had to be admired!) Oh how I love that little dot :0)

I misted a grid with a Perfect Touch Mask and Firefly mist with a little touch of Sprout Chalkboard.  Evidence: all colours used.

Using those chipboard letters...still!! Evidence: F for.... with alliteration!

Evidence: Glitz transparency, Crate Paper bee, Cloud journal spot, American Crafts rub ons, punched tag

Evidence: stripes on acrylic circle (so old I have no idea from whence it came!)

Thanks so much for popping in,
