LGS Challenge #13

Hello,

I found myself with a  couple of spare hours today so decided that rather than iron I would play along with the LGS sketch :0).......ok, ok I will iron as soon as I post this!

The photo is of DD#1 and GDG from a while back but I had bought this title from Silhouette and needed a photo to go with it :0) I ended up only using two of the words I cut as I didn't like the phrase all in the same colour and I couldn't be bothered to cut more!

I have finally used the magnetic MS punches on a page!!!! Why didn't I start sooner? I love it! I punched a page and then cut it down and stuck it to another piece of white cardstock.  Papers are Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe from my scraps box :0) Butterflies are TH dies and the stickers and bits are also CP
I stitched both pages independantly. A little squirt of Tattered angels Firefly mist. Another MS edge punch on the border

closer inspection of the punching. I misted the card behind with Tattered Angels Firefly before I stuck them together

Silhoutte phrase - so sweet! I typed the rest and attached them with staple 'kisses'
Thanks for popping in, a quick tidy up of my craft room and then the iron is coming out....ugh!!

Frosted Designs Sketch #42 'Mother's Day'

Hello,

it's sketch time over at Frosted Designs and if I am honest when I first saw this sketch I panicked!! It's not that it isn't a great sketch from Eli (it is) it's just that my style is to have lots of white space and at first look I thought this just so wasn't me. Sometimes you just have to not 'over think' and instead of just seeing you have to look (does this make sense to anyone except for me???? lol) I think I was having a bit of a duh moment because once I remembered a sketch is a starting point I was away!!

The photo is of me and my girls on Mother's Day (March in the UK) 5 more days and I get my camera back, woo hoo!!! Sorry for the pictures of my layout - this camera does not like white!!!

My CKC has finally run out and so I have added some of PP Nantucket papers to my kit to pad it out till the end of the month.

Cosmic Shimmer mists and That Perfect Touch Dot mask and Prima stencil

Spellbinders die, K and Co rub ons

Heidi Swapp butterfly, OA flash card

Here is Eli's lovely sketch that I got to grips with in the end :)

'Everyday Love'

Hello,

another layout with the very last of my pattern papers from my CKC (apart from some of the woodgrain Crate Paper one!) I really am going to have to add to it but think I may go for one of the add on kits that had more colour.......or maybe not!

This one uses my love of ink, fabric and white space :0) It's a photo of DGD last summer - I am struggling with recent photos as the weather here has been so miserable none of us have been taking any :0( Anyway, this was one of the many photos that had been discarded originally and are now making their way out of the filing cabinet!

The papers are a couple of freebies from Pinterest and some Pink Paislee

punched tag, circle cut on Cricut, new washi tape :0)

word cut on Cricut and painted chipboard heart

lots of layers going on and a smudge on the heart!!!
I had a lot of fun playing with this one in the wee small hours ;0)

Thanks for popping in,

CKC and Pretty Little Studio 'Fragile'

hello,

I loved the sketch over at PLS this week, clean lines, lots of white space - just my kind of thing!

I am getting to the tail end of my very mini kit for this month so I think I am going to have to add to it otherwise it will be game over!!

For this layout I decided to embrace the whiteness of white space and keep it really neutral and simple. I have been meaning to give chevrons a go for ages and decided that they would work perfectly with this sketch - although I love the result, the process may just be a bit too fiddly for my liking - hence a limited amount of chevrons!

Also just have to say a massive thank you to Missy at ScrapFit for the brilliant mist tutorial click here that meant I finally had some black misting spray....yay!! You will be seeing a lot of it in the next few layouts, lol.

The photo is one of DH and DGD on holiday last year (a bit fuzzy but I love it!) for some reason known only to her she developed a penchant for biting DH's nose throughout the 2 weeks we were away (and then stopped once we returned...she is a weird kid!) by the end of the holiday he really did have a sore nose!!!

papers are Crate Paper and Pink Paislee with some Teresa Collins transparency

Heidi Swapp stamp

PLS chalkboard journal spot and number tag, word cut on Cricut

my super duper misting spray can also be splatted :0)
All this whiteness makes my heart happy........ommm.......feeling very relaxed ;0)

CKC Hat Challenge 'Alfresco'

Hello,

CKC always have the best challenges and this one was no exception....inspiration...hats!

I liked the way the hats were displayed and used that as my starting point. I did have all circles but decided to change that as it was a little bit too regimented for me! Once everything was laid out I decided to stitch a grid just to define everything, and voila:

cut on the Cricut 'Graphically Speaking'

MME stamps and Spellbinders heart

OK I'm not going to lie - I saw HS on C&C and loved the shades on a stick!!! Cut this on the Cricut and used one of her stamps :0)
I loved making this layout - lots of fun :0)

CKC 'Together'

Hello,

I loved the sketch inspiration on CKC this month - originally from OA, but when I came to do my layout I was struggling with the band of paper across the page (I think I may have gone a bit too pastel with my paper choices) anyway with a bit of jiggery pokery I finally came up with something that I didn't mind :0)

The photo is the only one of the three of us (DH, DGD and me) in Turkey - taken by a 'professional' and not brilliant but it'as a memory :0). I have written about it and tucked it in the envelope.

papers are MME, K and Co and a freebie! Star border and word cut on Cricut.

I think Autumn Leaves made these stamps

balsa wood butterfly and left overs from border

MS PATP set used on this mini envelope. Heidi Swapp stamp

Memory File Album 'This Year'

It is my god-daughter's birthday on Saturday (and my Dad's - told you it was a busy old month!!) Every year I make her a mini album of the previous year. Her Mummy always says it's the present she (Mummy) looks forward to the most! LOL

I started off making a basic old 8 x 8 but quickly lost my mojo, then remembered how much I had enjoyed making GDG's birthday album. (click here to see it) A plan was flowing! This time I did use a proper Heidi Swapp Memory File but got a little heavy handed with the mist, a la Heidi, without the same mess free results lol. Tons of wipes, kitchen roll and swearing later this little baby was born :0)

I make no apology for this being totally lifted from HS' blog - I loved it!!!

phrase cut on Silhouette and Pro Markered to be ombre stylie - hard to see on the photo.

chipboard flower glittered with hearts

mini photo albums that open to the side as well as ones that lift up

6 x 12 page protectors sewn into the album...again an idea from HS Create to Remember. Swinging photo mats (there are another 2 behind this one) that are attached by a brad and punched for better movement. The 'snapshots' photo mat is a pocket for them to sit in.

I sewed photo mats into the album too

a birthday message to my girl on the back page
Most of the patterned paper is from a Cosmo 6 x 6 pad Tea for Two.

'Sunrise'

Hello,

phew! I am finally able to spend a day playing with my new Counterfeit Kit :0) it has been a super busy month for commissions and birthday stuff (not that I am complaining) but it is soooo nice to get back to the challenges I love to do!

I used the sketch for this lo of DH on hols from LGS - I spotted this on Monday and have been itching to get on with it!

I still don't have my camera back :0( and although the sun was out this morning by the time I had got this finished it had disappeared :0( x2, lol. So, again, I have to apologise for the quality of the photos!

Misting with Tattered Angels Chalkboard. Letters cut with Cricut and everything else was in my CK. Heidi Swapp word stamps arrived this morning yay!

and here is the lovely sketch that inspired me :0)

Papers are all MME as are the stamps and brad!!!

This tag has been painted, stamped, sanded, painted again, crackled and finally I got the look I was going for!!

don't you just love MME??? Even the smallest detail is sublime :0)

Here is the lovely sketch from Eli that got the whole process going:

do go and check out what the other girlies did with it and be inspired :0)

A Birthday Challenge

It is MIL's birthday today and every year DH takes her to London for a meal and a show. I decided that this year I would format the invitation a little differently.

We used to have a show in the UK called Catchphrase and you would guess the phrase from a series of pictures and 'say what you see'!!!

So I decided to do exactly that for MIL:

do you get it????? Ewe R invited 2 a Meal & Dream Boats and Petticoats
Had the best fum making this and figuring out how to put it all together.... a happy hour!!!

Counterfeit Kit - a photo (at last!)

Hello,

just a quickie today, I have been soooo poorly (poor me!) this week and after posting that I felt much better I ended up taking a  turn for the worse and got anything that ended in 'itus'!!!

I have finally got my kit together and because I have felt rubbish I haven't even been crafting so was able to photograph it today before diving in, lol.

It is only a mini version as, like Lisa, I shall be adding to it along the way ;0) Love the little bits and bobs from the various inspiration kits and so easy to forge too!

They are a real hotch potch of manufacturers and even two free papers that I spied on Pinterest. My butterflies have been diecut from an old Salmon Encroute balsa wood box......fabulous!

Looking forward to getting cracking with it. Thanks for popping in,

'Camel Love' x 2

Hello,

yet another couple of layouts from my holiday album - I am sooo on a roll!!! I know these are super touristy and even though the photos are much larger than I really like on my layouts - how could I not include them???

all the papers are from the tail end of my April CKC - amazing what you can do when push comes to shove eh?

the ink splodges didn't work this time so I made them into a feature with some black Prima cabachons ;0)

love this sticker from Cosmo!

just realised this has turned 90 degrees!!! brad is from MME

this idea was from a Pink Paislee forum chat that I spotted on FB. I think the cut out circles would have worked better if a) they were bigger and b) the photo was smaller, plus this is paper and embellie overload for me!

enamel paper clip is GCD, mini journal card is Pretty Little Studio (just got a whole bunch from them!) flash card is Pink Paislee as is corrugated heart, stamps are MME

rosette is another MME stamp, actually all the stamping has been done with their stamps!

now this scalloped border is......drum roll please......a repurposed salmon en croute balsa wood box!!!. The cross stitch is a result of my sewing machine not playing ball and making a whole load of holes with no thread!!! Brad is MME (who else?)

Thanks so much for popping in,

Ali x
